And here's me thinking you had to be really successful and write for really cool shows to be abused on your own blog - a bit like, say, James Moran.
But apparently not.
Good to see people are still reading my blog posts from back in July.

If you can't say something nice, say something anonymous.
If your mystery admirer held their own opinion in any regard then they would put their name to it. It's just sour grapes!
Thank you for your kind words. I actually found the whole thing rather amusing more than anything. What never ceases to amaze however, and this is echoed on things like the BBC Writersroom blog, is that other writers think this is the way to behave whilst at the same time trying to succeed in an industry based on building relationships.
Oh well, whatever. Probably turn out to be one of my mates winding me up after all this.
Personally I'm disappointed that Anonymous didn't get a bit more ranty. It was a fairly laid back and measured bit of twaddle.
Still, no doubt he or she is sitting at home being furious and bitter while we all have a good laugh about it.
Well now I really am upset. I was quite proud of being able to generate that much rage. But you're quite right, in hindsight it's not as seethingly ranty as one might have hoped.
Yet...it's the quiet ones that you've got to look out for. We've all written characters like that. The calm, measured man that turns out to be the one with the free pass to the looney bin...
Hmm. Good point. I think I had a history teacher like that
There you go, then.
Hey, you don't think it's him, do you? The history teacher? Come to get revenge for that time you sniggered at his pronunciation of Boudicca?
LOL! I've actually noticed that there's been several anonymous posts lately on several "industry" blogs of similar levels of aggression. I haven't figured out if it's some jaded amateur writer who has genuinely been offended by the likes of the professionals who've judge him/her, or if this is all some elaborate fictional facade for our blog reading pleasure. Either way it's entertaining as Hell.
as there are more writers than there are gigs, maybe it's a ploy to make some of us give up. don't think it's gonna work though
Whenever I hear about there being more writers than gigs the only thing it makes we want to do is set up a gig to write for.
Give up writing? What, like stop breathing? Yeah, right.
amen to that brother
