Shh it's oh so quiet

So no. I'm not in Cheltenham. There are three main reasons for that.

1. Couldn't afford it
2. Where does one get kosher food in Cheltenham - taking a load with me was hardly an option
3. The physical intensity of the festival, to get the most out of it, seemed a bit daunting. I could've done the two day ticket. But all four might have been a bit much.

So here are am. Is there anyone still out there in the blogosphere?

But it got me thinking that this is what is so great about screenwriting blogs as a resource etc. Of course I'm dying to know what happens at the festival. And of course reading about it is not the same as being there. But this is where a community spirit really comes into play.

So it's up to you - those who have been lucky enough to get along. Have a brilliant, fun, fantastic week and when you have suitably recovered, shine a reflective light down upon the rest of us with some hopefully positive news about the industry we all love.

Yep, I'm in the same boat (except for the Kosher bit - have they even heard of Vegemite in Cheltenham?)

Well, I'm not there. Couldn't afford it or justify it this time round, although I know there are plenty of arguments for/against the justification question.

I've told a few of my writing colleagues who are going along to mention my name at every opportunity. I said "Tell everyone that Laurence was too busy to come along. Busy, you know? Tap nose etc"

Bet they won't though. Well, apart from Michelle L. She's good like that.

I do many things for the sake of my writing - and eating vegemite is not one of them.

Another dirty-stop-at-home here. Something came up, as something usually seems to.

Mind, it was a fairly awesome something this time.

Can't wait to hear all about it when the gang get home though!

Sorry, didn't mean to be coy.

My long suffering wife and I are expecting the pitter patter of tiny feet next year!

As a result all finances have been diverted to the baby fund. I'm hopeful I'll be able to make SWF 2019 though...

fantastic! in hebrew we wish you b'shaah tova - which literally means 'in the good hour' - basically wishes you luck for when the time comes.

probably best reason yet for missing the festival! and of course i'm sure fatherhood will give you plenty of new writing material.

Thanks Jez, your kind thoughts are very much appreciated. We're both delighted, and a little bit scared. But mostly delighted!

Cheers,

Rob.
